Tennessee Awards Deloitte Highest Distinction for its Support of service members, Veterans and their families

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Deloitte was awarded the highest tier in the Tennessee Veteran Ready Business Recognition Program, the Gold Award, as part of Governor Bill Lee’s new initiative to recognize those businesses that support those who have served at the state capital in Nashville recently.

“Veterans strengthen Tennessee’s economy, businesses, and communities every day,” said Maj. Gen. Tommy H. Baker (Ret.), Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services. “Their service continues to benefit our state long after they leave the military, and the skills and perspectives they bring are invaluable. Through this program, we honor employers like Deloitte who invest in Veterans’ growth, support their families, and foster a workplace culture that truly values their contributions.”

The Veteran Ready Business Recognition Program acknowledges businesses that make an outstanding effort to Recruit, Hire and Retain service members, Veterans and their families. The program has three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold, recognizing employers for progressively deeper engagement, from supportive hiring practices to targeted career development and broader community involvement.

Commissioner Baker said that Deloitte demonstrates a deep commitment to service members, Veterans, and their families. They actively recruit Veterans, accepting military service in lieu of higher education, professional experience and civilian certifications. Deloitte employs more than 3,000 individuals with military backgrounds and operates a robust Veteran Retention Program focused on mentorship, structured career advancement, targeted skills training and a dedicated employee resource group for veterans and their families. Deloitte also supports military spouses with flexible opportunities and career pathways. Deloitte’s commitment to these programs acknowledges the significance and sacrifice of military service and harnesses the transformative power of veterans’ experience. 

Jonathan Alford, a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and Green Beret who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal, accepted the award on Deloitte’s behalf.

Deloitte joins eleven other gold-level tier recipients in Tennessee currently, along with additional businesses that are recognized at the silver and bronze tiers. Veterans in Tennessee contribute an estimated $33 billion each year to the state’s economy, underscoring the profound value of supporting their post-service success.
