TDVA and Department of Labor Continue Consolidation

Thursday, April 12, 2012 | 07:56am

Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder announced today the Veterans Affairs Field Office in Cookeville will relocate to the Tennessee Department of Labor Career Center in the same community. Doors will open at the new Cookeville Veterans Affairs Field Office at 580 S. Jefferson Avenue, Suite A, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. CDT.

Relocating the Veterans Affairs Field Office into the Tennessee Career Center will eliminate the need for our veterans to visit two facilities to access resources. This is the third Department of Veterans Affairs field office to merge with the Tennessee Career Centers.

“Effective, efficient, high quality customer service continues to be a priority for Governor Haslam, and we believe relocating our Veterans Affairs Field Offices with Tennessee Career Centers accomplishes that goal,” Grinder said. “We are grateful for our partnership with Commissioner Karla Davis and the Tennessee Department of Labor.”

Veteran services available at the Cookeville Career Center include assistance with employment, filing for service-connected or pension benefits, filing for home loan guarantees, education resources, and information on burial benefits.

“We are happy to streamline the process to serve Tennessee’s Veterans with this partnership and consolidation,” Davis said. “A one-stop delivery process helps us to save our customers time and money by offering the single-point-of-delivery concept.”

Sarah Tinch will be on site to help veterans file claims for available veterans’ benefits. Her phone number will be (931) 526-6929.

The Veterans Affairs Field Office located on 90 East Spring St. in Cookeville will close today at 4:30 p.m. CDT.
