Dusten Moffitt is a recipient of the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association (NAWEOA) Lifesaving Award for his bravery and selfless service during a lifethreatening swift water rescue in Sumner County in June 2025. NAWEOA presents an annual Life Saving Award to honor wildlife officers who perform heroic acts to protect and save human lives, both on and off duty.

Dusten, who received the TWRA Valor Award last year at the August meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission, was introduced with his latest award at the recent TFWC meeting.

When notified of the incident last June, Dusten immediately responded and located multiple victims stranded in submerged and partially submerged vehicles and rescued three individuals. Dusten found a fourth victim barely conscious, wedged in a tree with water rushing over his head. Dusten entered the current, maneuvering from tree to tree until he reached him. Dusten and the victim were pulled to safety.
