Helping Educate the Future on Tennessee Wildlife
Mallory Tate Cogburn, Region II Biologist, recently led a group of girls from a local American Heritage Girls troop as they worked toward earning their Zoology badge. One of the badge requirements includes attending a presentation focused on the diverse wildlife found across Tennessee.
Mallory guided approximately 30 participants, girls and their parents, on an educational walk around Radnor Lake, where they identified various animal species and discussed the habitats that support them.
Along the way, she emphasized the critical role that healthy ecosystems play in sustaining wildlife populations. The hands-on experience gave participants a closer look at the natural world while reinforcing the importance of conservation. Opportunities like this help open young minds to the environment around them, inspiring a deeper appreciation for Tennessee’s rich wildlife and the need to protect it for future generations.
