Cumberland Gap Students Participate in Unique Program
Students in the Wildlife and Fisheries Science class at Cumberland Gap High School recently participated in a unique educational program focused on furbearer trapping and predator control.
The event was coordinated by Sterling Daniels, TWRA Region IV Species Program biologist, who invited Lt. Andy Collins, a veteran officer from District 41, to lead the session. Andy brings years of experience in furbearer trapping, predator management, and hunter education, making him an invaluable resource for the students. During the program, students received both classroom and field instruction on Tennessee’s trapping rules, regulations, trap types, trapping methods, techniques for targeting specific species, and ethics in trapping.
Andy delivered an engaging and informative presentation, earning high praise from students and staff alike. Special thanks go to Sterling for his continued efforts to provide hands-on learning opportunities that connect students with real-world wildlife management practices.
