Community Partners Organize Urban Goose Hunt in Robertson County

Robertson County wildlife officer Jason Shapton recently partnered with the city of Springfield and Hero Hunt Inc. to organize a special goose hunt at a local city park. Hero Hunt Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping line-of-duty injured military members, police officers, firefighters, and other first responders reconnect with the camaraderie they often miss after leaving active service due to their injuries.

The hunt offered benefits on multiple levels. Several participants enjoyed successful hunts, while the event also helped manage an overabundant urban goose population in the area. Beyond the harvest itself, the day provided an opportunity for fellowship, outdoor recreation, and healing.

By bringing together community partners and outdoor enthusiasts, the event highlighted how conservation efforts and meaningful experiences can go hand in hand. All involved enjoyed a rewarding day outdoors while supporting both wildlife management and those who have served.
