Lincoln County Sportsman’s Field Day Connects Youth to Outdoors
Held for the Second Year
TWRA hosted its second annual Lincoln County Sportsman’s Field Day at Flintville Wildlife Management Area in September. More than 140 youngsters participated in a variety of outdoor activities designed to introduce kids to hunting, fishing and other outdoor skills.
TWRA game wardens, Agency personnel and community volunteers manned activity stations where participants learned about shotgun and rifle shooting, archery, fishing, casting, and tree stand safety. Families also had the opportunity to explore TWRA’s Wildlife on Wheels trailer and learn about native Tennessee animals, while the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) brought educational trailers to share information about its programs and resources.
Attendees received lunch, and TWRA fisheries personnel were on hand to fry silver carp for everyone to sample. The event concluded with a prize giveaway featuring hundreds of prizes generously donated by sponsors.
Strong turnout and enthusiastic participation made the second annual Sportsman’s Field Day memorable for Lincoln County families and a great opportunity to connect young people with the outdoors.
