Early Summer Means Geese Banding Time

TWRA Region III employees, like all regions, recently banded geese. Interns and volunteers joined them to learn the intricacies of this task. Casey Mullen and Sam Dishman led the efforts, which resulted in 500 Canada geese getting new bands. They also recaptured 67 Canada geese that had been banded in previous years, for a total of 567 geese captured over a two-day period in early July. A total of 2,424 geese were banded statewide this summer, during the last weeks of June and early weeks of July.
