What began as a small operation with fewer than twenty employees, five trucks, and a single 45,000-square-foot warehouse has grown into one of the region’s most dynamic metal service centers and contract manufacturers. Founded in 2014, Morgan Steel now employs over 300 team members across its Memphis, Tennessee, and Greenville, Texas locations — distributing more than 400 tons of steel daily to industries ranging from agriculture to manufacturing.

But as the business expanded, so did its workforce needs. Skilled positions such as welders, CNC operators, engineers, and CDL drivers were in high demand, and finding qualified candidates became increasingly challenging.

That’s when Morgan Steel partnered with the American Job Center (AJC) — and the results were transformative.

In August 2025, facing an urgent need to fill multiple roles, the company turned to the AJC for support. The AJC team helped organize and promote a large-scale hiring event, providing on-site assistance and enrolling eligible candidates into On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs. By noon that day, more than 100 qualified applicants had arrived for interviews.

The company shared,

Through ongoing collaboration, Morgan Steel has also leveraged job fairs, apprenticeships, and is preparing to launch Incumbent Worker Training — all designed to strengthen employee development and retention.

Looking ahead, Morgan Steel plans to expand training opportunities even further, introducing Leadership Development, Mechatronics, and Certified Production Technician programs in 2026.
