Eligibility

Open to businesses at risk of layoffs or closures, including small businesses impacted by supply chain disruptions or economic shifts.

Eligibility assessed by local workforce board and state Rapid Response team.

Wage subsidies to offset training costs for new hires.

Description

Partners with Local Workforce Development Areas to subsidize wages (up to 50%) for newly hired employees who need job-specific training.

Helps employers offset the cost of developing talent internally.

Eligibility

Employers must commit to retaining the trainee after successful training.

New hires must meet eligibility under WIOA (e.g. dislocated workers, unemployed, or underemployed individuals).

Employers must not have recently laid off staff in similar positions.

Programs offer employment assistance, job training and placement, and transitional support such as housing, transportation, and access to documents.

Eligibility

Classification as a minimum or low-security risk.

Have a record of good behavior and program participation.

Be nearing the end of the sentence.

Have no recent disciplinary infractions.

Be medically and mentally fit.

Have a valid ID or be eligible to obtain one.

Be approved by facility staff and reentry coordinators.

Have a verified job offer or be placed through a TDOC-approved employment partner.
