Tennessee Transfer Pathways

A Tennessee Transfer Pathway is an advising tool that allows a student to begin their journey at a community college following an approved AA, AS, or AST curriculum that is designed to provide a seamless transition to a four-year program. The program guidelines can be found in TN Code 49-7-202 (r) which stipulates that a transfer pathway will consist of 60 hours of instruction with 41 of those hours designated to the general education core and the remaining 19 credits to pre-major or elective courses. Each Tennessee Transfer Pathway curriculum is reviewed every five years in the Spring. These state-wide meetings will bring campus representatives together to review curriculum files and make recommendations for approval that students from across the state can follow in order to transfer from participating community colleges to universities throughout Tennessee.

The Tennesee Transfer Pathways subcouncil is charged with reviewing, updating, and developing transfer policies, principles, and systemwide expectations to ensure legislative compliance. The subcouncil will use multiple taskforce groups to pragmatically develop a continuous improvement plan, ensuring the credits students earn through a Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP) program will apply to degree pathways at Tennessee’s public universities and participating private universities.
