Active Transportation
Walking
If you live a mile or less from work, ditching your car and breaking in those walking shoes might be a great alternative for your daily commute! Walking a mile usually only takes about 20 minutes, meaning you can get great exercise every single day just by strolling to work instead of driving. One of the best things about walking - never waste time and frustration looking for parking!
See TDOT’s website here for laws applying to pedestrians in Tennessee.
Biking
Tired of your commute being controlled by gridlocked traffic? Biking to work is one of the most beneficial alternatives to switch up your commute and whiz by traffic. Biking gets you outside, relieves stress, saves money, and is great exercise, letting you avoid the guilt of eating that break-room cookie!
If you are hesitant to try it because you don’t know the rules of the road, League of American Bicyclists provides an easy to read guide to allow you bike safely and confidently. Find Tennessee’s bicycle laws on TDOT’s website here.
