The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will host a rapid hiring event to fill interim Driver License Examiner positions in metropolitan areas across the state. The hiring event will take place October 22 and 23, 2019 at the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Training Center’s Annex and Gymnasium Building at 283 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, 37214.

On October 2, 2019, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) received credible information that 1st degree murder suspect, 19-year-old DeAndre Jones of Memphis, Tennessee was possibly in the Middle Tennessee area. Troopers ultimately located Jones at the Knights Inn on South Church Street in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

One year from today, the REAL ID Act of 2005 will go into effect. Beginning October 1, 2020, all persons must have a REAL ID license for accessing certain Federal facilities, entering nuclear facilities, military bases, and boarding commercial flights within the United States. The REAL ID Act of 2005 establishes minimum security standards for license issuance and production and prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for certain purposes driver licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act’s minimum standards.

On August 8, 2019, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Knoxville Regional Dispatch Operator Zach Bisch received a call from a domestic assault victim while inside a moving vehicle. During the call it became apparent to Operator Bisch that a female was being struck and held against her will. Due to the caller’s open cellphone line, dispatch was able to determine that the vehicle was traveling West on I-40.
