    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Military Department is conducting a Joint Emergency Preparedness Exercise at Nashville’s Joint Forces Headquarters on 3041 Sidco Drive, from 8-11 a.m., March 22. Participants include the Tennessee National Guard, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Metro Nashville Police Department, and the Nashville Fire Department. During the exercise, the main entrance to the facility may be closed and traffic through the campus main gate may be restricted.

    SMYRNA, Tenn. – Top junior enlisted leaders and junior Noncommissioned Officer from the Tennessee National Guard and representatives from the Bulgarian Armed Forces competed in the State Best Warrior Competition, Feb. 22-27. The competition took place at Tennessee Volunteer Training Sites in Milan, Smyrna, and Tullahoma; Middle Tennessee State University; and the Lynchburg area.

    SMYRNA, Tenn. – More than 145 Soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 181st Field Artillery Regiment, returned home, Feb. 6, after a successful 10-month deployment to the Middle East. An additional 190 Soldiers from the 1-181st have already returned to Tennessee on Feb. 3, marking the deployment’s completion for the 335 members of the Chattanooga based unit.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – When the Tennessee National Guard’s 268th Military Police Company left for a yearlong deployment to the Horn of Africa last month, the 80-member company had the additional benefit of experienced local law-enforcement officers in their ranks. Among them were three deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office: Daija Brunson, Jonathan Jones, and Christopher Williams.
