Recreation Consulting
Recreation Services Study
The Tennessee Public Recreation Services Study of 2026 provides a statewide overview of how local governments deliver and support public recreation services. Drawing on data from 53 participating agencies, the report highlights broad trends in staffing, funding, infrastructure conditions, and local planning practices across Tennessee. This foundational baseline offers a clearer understanding of the diverse ways communities manage their recreation systems and the shared challenges they face. The study serves as a starting point for ongoing statewide benchmarking, stronger coordination, and more data informed decision making. It is intended to support local leaders, planners, and partners working to enhance recreation access, quality, and long term sustainability for Tennesseans.
