Office of Environmental Stewardship

Effective August 1, the Office of Sustainable Practices became the Office of Environmental Stewardship. This renaming reflects the expanded role of the office after recently absorbing TDEC’s Used Oil and Household Hazardous Waste programs and establishing the new Office of Cooperative Marketing for Recyclables. This alignment strengthens TDEC’s stakeholder-focused support for waste diversion and recycling across Tennessee while maintaining a commitment to advancing sustainability through stakeholder engagement and regulatory, technical, and financial support.
