CHDE3093 All Staff Be the One (2 hr)
The "Be the One” initiative began in the State of Tennessee as a suicide prevention campaign for co-workers. It is based on the idea that colleagues can help build a supportive workforce which values and affirms life. In this webinar, we will learn about the prevalence of suicide among working-age adults, we will reflect on our attitudes about suicide, and learn strategies for preventing suicide. Suicide can be a difficult topic to think about and discuss. As a coworker you are in a unique position to prevent suicide among your colleagues. While no one prevention strategy or gatekeeper program is 100% effective, we believe that learning the basic gatekeeper skills taught in the Talk, Listen, Connect curriculum will help save lives.

CHDE3041 Case Management Staff CFTM Facilitation for the Case Manager (7 hr)
CFTM Facilitation for Case Managers was developed to increase understanding and competency of CFTM facilitation skills of case managers by enhancing engagement strategies, communication skills and knowledge of CFTM practice.  The CFTM process and hearing the family story are critical when creating a shared vision/ understanding of the family plan and its implementation.  When the case manager acts in both the role of the CFTM facilitator and the case manager, they are responsible for the process of guiding the CFTM through the stages while ensuring everyone’s voices are heard while at the same time ensuring risk and safety issues are discussed a collaborative plan is develop with the family to address these issues.

CHDE3035 Case Management Series Child Welfare Trauma Training Toolkit (15 hr)
This course is designed to teach basic knowledge, skills, and values about working with children in the child welfare system that have experienced traumatic events, and how to use this knowledge to support children’s safety, permanency, and wellbeing through trauma-informed practice. Participants will be able to define the Essential Elements of a Trauma-Informed Child Welfare System; understand the term “child traumatic stress” and know what types of experiences constitute trauma; understand the relationship between a child’s lifetime trauma and his/her behaviors; identify the impact of trauma on child development and brain development; utilize trauma screening to identify trauma-related needs of children and families and make appropriate referrals; and, recognize their role in responding to child traumatic stress. This is a National Child Traumatic Stress Network curriculum with adaptations for TN.
CHDE3055 Staff supervising visits Childcare Basics (3 hr)
This course is being provided to teach basic childcare skills for those staff that may supervise visits, sit with children waiting to be placed, be with them during the removal process, or transport children.
CHDE3048 Case Management Series Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Minors (CSEM) (7 hr)
Given the intersection between child welfare and sex trafficking, DCS professionals can play a critical role in identifying and reporting victims, determining appropriate services and placement options for victims, and helping to prevent future victimization of youth currently in care. This 1 day training is for DCS professionals to build capacity to identify and serve survivors of sex trafficking. Policy related to sex trafficking will be introduced.
CFMG1000 Supervisory Staff Conflict Management (3.5 hr)
This half-day workshop defines conflict, identifies sources of conflict, and differentiates between productive conflict
and unproductive conflict. Participants will learn the five stages of conflict and a process to address and effectively
manage conflict. Participants will engage in a self-assessment to help them discover how they respond to conflict
and learn strategies for better conflict management.
CHDE4027 Case Management Series Creating Normalcy Through Prudent Parenting (3 hr)
Youth in foster care deserve to have the same opportunities as other youth to participate in developmentally appropriate activities, such as field trips, sleep overs, and other extracurricular activities. These experiences allow youth to build skills while developing talents and healthy relationships with peers and supportive adults. New experiences and opportunities help youth discover who they are and learn important decision making skills when they are supported by nurturing caregivers.
This federally mandated training is designed to build awareness and understanding of the Protocol for Reasonable and Prudent Parenting and to build staff capacity to support foster parents in making wise and prudent parenting decisions.
CHDE1753 All Staff Culturally Competent Practice with Latino Children and Families (3.5 hr)
Training is a focus on the use of a framework called Systems of Care when working with Latino children and families. Systems of Care is a culturally sensitive approach to service delivery that can be used to improve outcomes for safety, permanence, and well-being. Objectives of this course include how to respond more effectively to the needs of Latino children and families, the need to prepare CPS staff to address the needs of the Latino population and discussion of the  “cookie-cutter approach” to child welfare services where the same services are applied to all families without consideration of individual or cultural differences.

CHDE4047 Case Management Staff Developing Quality Permanency Plans (6 hr)
This training teaches DCS staff how to write quality strengths, needs and action steps in the permanency plan.  
EC1000 Supervisory Staff Effective Communication (3 hr)
During this workshop, participants learn how to communicate more effectively. They learn how to facilitate the various aspects of communication. Participants learn the basics of communication, discover an effective communication model, understand the various ways people communicate, learn top communication barriers, demonstrate nonverbal communication, explore the importance of clarity, determine how to communicate more effectively in their agency and explore ways to implement strategies to go from good to great. Participants also learn why effective communication is a vital skill required for all employees to ensure all agencies in government are successful.
EPS1000 Supervisory Staff Effective Presentation Skills (3 hr)
This half-day workshop focuses on developing participants’ basic facilitation and classroom management skills. These skills include understanding the difference between a facilitator and a presenter, creating an engaging atmosphere conducive to a positive learning experience, controlling classroom behaviors, and exuding confidence during the process. Participants will build their skill base in effective use of PowerPoint presentations to develop succinct and impactful presentations, and learn how to integrate PowerPoint to building engaging presentations.

This webinar is designed to introduce and improve the understanding of participants around the topic of domestic violence in the child welfare system. This introduction will serve as the first in a series of trainings that are intended to strengthen case manager practice when working with families in which domestic violence is present.

CHJJ0186 JJ Staff Mental Health for Juvenile Justice (7.5 hr)
This training is designed to provide juvenile justice staff with basic information about adolescent development and mental health disorders commonly seen among youth in contact with the juvenile justice system, the treatment services often used with justice-involved youth, and the important role of the family. In addition, the MHTC-JJ seeks to provide participants with practical strategies for better interacting and communicating with youth in their care who have mental health problems.
PC1000 Level 1 Certificate Advanced Management Skills Performance Coaching (3.5 hr)
The Performance Coaching workshop teaches supervisors how effective coaching enhances the performance management process. Supervisors learn the 5-step performance coaching model that provides them with the knowledge and skills needed to reinforce positive behavior and change negative behavior.

During this workshop, participants will learn skills to improve productivity, recognize, and demonstrate the competencies required for effective planning and priority setting. Participants will also learn how to identify priorities that are urgent and important. They will also learn how to set goals and objectives to improve skills in planning and prioritizing. Finally, they will understand the importance of planning, scheduling, and what makes them distinct.
CHDE3071 All Staff QPR: Question Persuade Refer (2 hr)
QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention is a training program designed to teach lay and professional "gatekeepers" the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Gatekeepers can include anyone who is positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide (e.g., parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, caseworkers). The process follows three steps: (1) Question the individual's desire or intent regarding suicide, (2) Persuade the person to seek and accept help, and (3) Refer the person to appropriate resources.
CHDE3101 Case Management Series Quality Contacts Workshop (6.5 hr)
Quality Contacts Workshop will teach participants the importance of quality contacts & documentation. Participants will learn the core characteristics of a quality contact with an emphasis on the DCS Practice Wheel. 
QDMG2014 Level 2 Certificate Advanced Management Skill2 Quality Decision Making (3.5 hr)
During this workshop, participants learn critical theory of rational and non-rational decision making. Participants learn the value of both processes and the impact on leading people. Also, they learn how to apply forms of non-rational decision making when rational decision making is not an option based on timing and circumstances. Finally, they practice making decisions through the use of the non-rational decision making methods.
CHDE3092 Case Management Series Quality Documentation (1.5 hr)
This course aims to highlight professional documentation guidelines that can be applied to case recordings, assessments, and case plans and will enable case managers to clearly and concisely reflect the past, present, and future status of the families who they are working with.
CHDE3076 Case Management Series Safe Sleep (1 hr)
This training outlines the importance of Safe Sleep practices for infants, the ABC’s of Safe Sleep, Safe Sleep positions and environments. Participants will review the Protocol for Safe Sleep Education and Delivery of Safe Sleep Furniture, the process for accessing and replenishing Safe Sleep furniture and the provision of Safe Sleep education.
CHDE5501 JJ Staff Searches, Mechanical Restraints & Transportation (3 hr)
This course prepares staff to perform their job duties proficiently related to searches, mechanical restraints and transportation.  Participants learn to utilize practices that reduce trauma by conducting consistent, thorough and trauma-informed searches, restraints, and transports to maintain safety and security.
This is a 2-part class.  The first part is the virtual classroom.  After participants attend the virtual classroom component, they will attend the skills lab in their grand region.  The skills lab gives you the opportunity to:
•        Practice and demonstrate appropriate search technique (personal property and pat-down search).
•        Practice and demonstrate appropriate application of mechanical restraints.
CHDE3073 All Staff Secondary Trauma (3 hr)
During the course of the training, we will discuss the impact of STS, strategies to combat STS, resiliency factors, and competency in addressing STS for yourself.
CHDE2080 Supervisory Staff Secondary Traumatic Stress for Supervisors (3.5 hr)
Being aware of how our work can impact us, and achieving and maintaining a sense of balance and connection in our lives, can prevent us from experiencing secondary trauma and/or mitigate its harmful effects.
SM1000 Level 3 Certificate Advanced Management Skills Self-Management (3.5 hr)
During this workshop, participants learn that self-management is a critical competency to be a successful people leader. Participants explore the importance of a mental reset to positive thinking and describe how to establish their value in their organization. Participants practice self-management techniques to become more productive in their workplace. As a result of having attended this workshop, managers and supervisors learn to describe how using self-management practices can make a positive impact on their team and their career.
CHDE4017 Skilled Facilitators Skilled Facilitator Certification (24 hr)
The Skilled Facilitator Certification training is offered to Department of Children’s Services staff so that each region has qualified, effective Skilled Facilitators  who are certified to  facilitate quality Child and Family Team Meetings. This training is based on the Team Decision Making Facilitation Curriculum developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and is adapted to reflect Tennessee’s unique model for Child and Family Teams.
STW1000 Level 1 Certificate Advanced Management Skills SMART Performance Planning (3.5 hr)
The S.M.A.R.T. Performance Planning process is a tool for supervisors to use in setting clear expectations for employees and to hold them accountable for the desired results. The workshop provides guidance to supervisors on how to write individual performance plans that meet the criteria of being Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time Sensitive. The objectives for this workshop are to review the performance management process steps, learn the S.M.A.R.T. formula and how to use the formula to write work outcomes for an individual performance plan

CHDE4601 JJ Staff Think Exit at Entry (6 hr)
Think Exit at Entry provides a framework for working with young people leaving juvenile justice residential placements.  These youth face many concerns as they reenter the community, home, and school/work force. Reentry refers to those activities and tasks that prepare youth placed out-of-home for re-integration into their families and communities.  Unfortunately, many youth return to unstable home settings, struggle to remain in school, and lack the skills needed for employment upon leaving secure care placement. This can be exacerbated by mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.  To improve the odds of success for youth reentering the community, the justice system, related agencies, and communities must plan for what needs to occur for reentry when youth enter the juvenile justice system: “think exit at entry.” Therefore coordination and collaboration between agencies and across services and supports are necessary at multiple phases of reentry. 
CHDE3106 Any Staff Trauma 101 (4 hr)
Part of the Child Welfare Trauma Training Toolkit from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, this course provides an overview of the types of trauma, the short- and long-term impacts of trauma on children and parents, and information on resilience. Reviews intersection of race, culture, and trauma. Designed for all child welfare staff.
CHDE3107 Any Staff Trauma Informed Child Welfare (4 hr)
Part of the Child Welfare Trauma Training Toolkit from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, this course provides a foundational overview of the Essential Elements of a Trauma-Informed Child Welfare System for all child welfare staff.  Trauma 101 or prior training related to trauma is recommended prior to taking this course.  
CHDE3108 Case Manager Series Trauma Informed Child Welfare for the Case Manager (7 hr)
Part of the Child Welfare Trauma Training Toolkit from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, this course provide an in-depth focus on the Essential Elements of a TICW System with a focus on learning concrete trauma-informed strategies to use with clients within their daily work.  Trauma Informed Child Welfare 101 or other Trauma Informed Child Welfare training is recommended prior to taking this course.   
CHDE1775 Case Management Series Working with LGBTQ+ Youth (6.5 hr)
This curriculum aims to enhance casework strategies of child welfare professionals working with LGBTQ+ youth. The training will provide information on the scope of LGBTQ+ youth in the child welfare system; the challenges to safety, permanence and well-being for LGBTQ+ youth; understanding DCS policy related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression; using accurate and culturally appropriate terminology; and increasing their own competency in working with LGBTQ+ youth.
