TDOC Accepting Applications For Middle Tennessee Citizens' Academy

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 | 01:12pm

Nashville – The Tennessee Department of Correction is now accepting applications for our Middle Tennessee Citizens' Correctional Academy.  The academy is a five-week program designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency.  Classes will be held June 5-28, 2018 at various TDOC locations in Middle Tennessee.

Since its inception in 2014, six classes have completed this immersive program.  Citizens’ Academy success is due to the “behind the wall” look at corrections in Tennessee, Department of Correction’s operations and the agency’s role in advancing public safety.  Participants have the opportunity to learn about TDOC functions and programming from executive leadership, tour two facilities and visit a community supervision field office in order to gain a better understanding of the agency and the work of its more than 6,000 dedicated employees.

If you would like to attend, applications for the Citizens’ Correctional Academy are available on the departmental website or you may request an application by emailing TDOC.Communications@tn.gov.
