Online Boater Education

Any of these courses will make you boater-safety certified upon completion of the online course. All these courses are approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the certification is valid in all 50 states. These courses are user-friendly and self-directed.   Study at your own pace, then take the exam.

When you pass the online exam, you can print your Tennessee Boater Safety Education Certificate and the information will be transferred to our license system to show to any game warden that you are boater safety certified.

Options Available

In addition to the traditional in-person boater education course, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is providing an option for people aged 12 and over to complete boater education completely online with no in-person requirement.

Step 1: Buy the Boating Safety Exam Permit (Type 600) on GoOudoorsTennessee.com or anywhere that sells our licenses. Make sure to check your address to ensure that your card gets sent to the right place!

Step 2: Complete one of the following online classes:

·  BoatUS Foundation Course (FREE course)

·  Boat-ed.com (fee-based course)

·  Recademics (fee-based course)

Step 3: Print your Tennessee Boater Safety Education Certificate after successfully completing the online course.

Step 4: Go boating, safely and responsibly!
