Supply Chain & Transportation
The Supply Chain and Transportation career cluster prepares students for careers in supply chain management, automotive repair, automotive collision repair, and aviation, all of which are essential to the movement of people and goods across the nation. Automotive careers require a strong mechanical ability, and with the nation's continued reliance on automobiles, demand for skilled workers in the automotive fields remains strong. Aviation programs offer pathways to a wide range of careers, including pilots, aircraft engineers, air traffic control specialists, aircraft mechanics, and airport support workers.
The Supply Chain and Transportation career cluster encompasses four key programs of study: Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair, Collision Repair, Aviation Flight, and Supply Chain Management. These programs equip students with the necessary technical skills and hands-on experience to thrive in the transportation and logistics industries, ensuring that they are well-prepared for postsecondary, workforce, career and technical education (CTE), and military readiness.
Tennessee offers numerous academic programs aligned with the Supply Chain and Transportation cluster, creating a robust educational pathway for students interested in automotive, aviation, and supply chain careers. These programs, spanning both secondary and postsecondary institutions, continue to attract an increasing number of students. The rising number of concentrators—students who complete sequenced courses in a single program of study—indicates the growing success of these educational initiatives in meeting the needs of Tennessee’s workforce.
As the Supply Chain and Transportation industry evolves, Tennessee remains committed to ensuring its students are ready for emerging opportunities. By fostering strong connections between education and industry, the state is preparing a skilled workforce capable of driving the future of automotive repair, aviation, and supply chain management.
