Our department provides public notices for regular and special meetings. Details on such meetings are outlined in Tennessee Code Annotated § 8-44-103.
If the physical quorum is present, boards and commissions may, but are not required to, allow participation by electronic or other means of communication (ie.: webinar, conference call, etc.) for the benefit of the general public and governing body in connection with any meeting authorized by law (Tennessee Code Annotated § 8-44-108).

The mission of the TN Board of Boiler Rules is to support the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Boiler Unit by formulating definitions, rules, and regulations for the safe and proper installation, repair, and operation of boilers and pressure vessels.
The TN Board of Boiler Rules is dedicated to safeguarding all individuals from the potential hazards associated with operating these systems.
The TN Board of Boiler Rules is currently composed of five (5) members.

- 25-16: US Nitrogen, in Midway, TN, is seeking an Attendant Variance Approval to operate its four (4) existing high-pressure boilers (The Babcock & Wilcox Co, Rentech Boiler System, Inc., and Struthers Wells Gulport Inc.) with a new microprocessor-based remote-control system (Emerson DeltaV S-series). This new system will adhere to the Board of Boiler Rules guidelines for Computerized Remote Monitoring of Boiler Systems.
- 25-17: University of TN Medical Center, in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an Attendant Variance Approval to operate its three (3) existing high-pressure boilers (Cleaver Brooks) with a new microprocessor-based remote-control system (Cleaver Brooks CB120). This new system will adhere to the Board of Boiler Rules guidelines for Computerized Remote Monitoring of Boiler Systems.
- New Repair License Application
- FMW Solutions LLC (Soddy-Daisy, TN) is applying for a license to engage in the erection, repair, and/or alteration of boilers and pressure vessels in the State of Tennessee.

A. Variance Requests:
- 25-10: Wacker Chemical Company, in Charleston, TN, is seeking a Variance Approval to extend 200 plus pressure vessel inspection interval from 2-year inspection requirement to the allowable frequencies not to exceed 10 years, in order to achieve alignment with the API Standard 510.
- 25-11: Jack Daniels Distillery, in Lynchburg, TN, is seeking an Attendant Variance Approval to operate its two (2) existing high-pressure boilers (The Babcock & Wilcox Co and Nebraska) with a new microprocessor-based remote-control system (Autoflame MK8). This new system will adhere to the Board of Boiler Rules guidelines for Computerized Remote Monitoring of Boiler Systems.
- 25-12: Eastman Chemical Company, in Kingsport, TN, is seeking a Variance Approval to install a stop valve within the relief path of the pressure relief valve installed on JH-01 HTM Heater (a.k.a. Heater 11) per the guidelines stated in BC 23-01.
- 25-13: Tennova Healthcare – North Knoxville Medical Center, in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an Attendant Variance Approval to operate its two (2) existing high-pressure boilers and one (1) deaerator (Bryan) with new microprocessor-based remote-control systems (CB120E). These new systems will adhere to the Board of Boiler Rules guidelines for Computerized Remote Monitoring of Boiler Systems.
- 25-14: Ballad Health – Franklin Woods Community Hospital, in Johnson City, TN, is seeking an Attendant Variance Approval to operate its three (3) existing high-pressure boilers and one (1) deaerator (Cleaver-Brooks) with new microprocessor-based remote-control systems (CB780E). These new systems will adhere to the Board of Boiler Rules guidelines for Computerized Remote Monitoring of Boiler Systems.
- 25-15: Carlex Glass American LLC in Nashville, TN is seeking a Variance Approval to relocate the remote station and change responsibility of the Remote Attendant from the contracted security provider to Carlex Glass America LLC production personnel.
B. TN Special:
- Carlex Glass American LLC in Nashville, TN is applying for a TN Special to operate a pressure vessel manufactured by Olmar Grupoolmar.
C. New Repair License Application:
