Ensuring Eligibility for Honor and Remembrance

Introduction:
Eligibility for the Honor Guard Grant Program is carefully defined to ensure that the funds are allocated to Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) that are committed to providing honorable burial services to Tennessee's veterans. Review the criteria below to determine if your organization qualifies.

Eligibility for Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs):

• Must be officially registered with the state of Tennessee.
• Must be recognized as a non-profit organization under § 501(c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Code.
• Required to provide detailed accounts of previous honor guard services performed.
• Expected to maintain compliance with all state regulations and guidelines set forth by the TDVS.

Eligibility for Veterans:

• Must be a veteran as defined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Must have been discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.
• Service requirements and other specific eligibility criteria as outlined in the grant manual.

How to Determine Your Eligibility:
