Authorizer Fee
The Charter Commission serves as the LEA of its authorized charter schools in accordance with T.C.A. § 49-13-128(e) and, therefore, is required to fulfill the same responsibilities of all other school districts in the state of Tennessee in addition to fulfilling its responsibilities of being a charter school authorizer. In accordance with T.C.A. § 49-13-118, the Charter Commission collects an annual authorizer fee from each of its authorized charter schools to fund its work as a charter school authorizer and an LEA.
By December 1 of each year, the Charter Commission shall publicly report the total amount of authorizer fees collected in the previous school year and the authorizing obligations fulfilled using the fee.
