Lauren Smith
Lauren Smith has worked in the public education space in Tennessee with a particular focus on charter schools since 2013. Currently a consultant in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, she has managed a range of projects with organizations including SCORE, the Tennessee Department of Education, Communities In Schools, and Building Impact.
Previously, Lauren served as founding Chief of Staff for Valor Collegiate Academies, where she helped launch three public charter schools and managed hiring, development, and external affairs for the organization. Prior to joining Valor, Lauren was the Advocacy Director for the Tennessee Charter School Center.
A native of Abbeville, Alabama, Lauren earned a bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and a Master of Philosophy in Education from the University of Cambridge, Queens’ College. Lauren and her husband Brad live in Nashville with their three young daughters.
