Hazard Mitigation Planning
Hazard mitigation planning helps communities identify risks, assess vulnerabilities, and develop long-term strategies to reduce the impacts of future disasters. It provides the foundation for informed decision-making and supports actions that strengthen resilience over time. TEMA supports hazard mitigation planning efforts across Tennessee by working with local governments, state partners, and other stakeholders to identify hazards, set priorities, and maintain planning processes that guide future mitigation work.
Planning Support
TEMA supports hazard mitigation planning through guidance, coordination, and technical assistance. Each region has a planner who can assist communities with planning questions, plan maintanence, updates, and related support needs. Communities needing assistance should contact their regional office to connect with their TEMA planner in their area.
