Assistance for Private Nonprofits

Private nonprofit organizations affected by a disaster may be eligible for assistance, but eligibility is not based on disaster impacts alone. It also depends on the services the organization provides, the facility involved, and other program requirements. Assistance may be available through FEMA Public Assistance, SBA disaster loans, or both, depending on the disaster and the applicant.

Disaster assistance is not automatically available after every disaster. Availability depends on whether the state has received an approved federal declaration, the types of assistance approved, and whether an organization meets program requirements.
