ReadyTN Business

Businesses across Tennessee can participate in the ReadyTN Business Program's four-week ceritification, a structured, no-cost opportunity to strengthen your organization's emergency preparedness efforts. Over the course of the four-weeks, participating businesses will focus on a key area of emergency readiness, guiding participants step-by-step through the process. Upon completion of all four weeks, businesses will be recognized as a Certified ReadyTN Business, showcasing their commitment to preparedness and their role in supporting a safer, more resilient Tennessee. 

More detailed tasks for each week, including downloadable templates, checklists, and other essential resources, can be found below to help guide your business through every step of the certification process. 

To complete week one, the following tasks must be completed and logged using the Business Preparedness Checklist. This checklist must be completed with the completion date and types of risks logged.

To complete week two, the following tasks must be completed and logged using the checklist you started during week one. 

Key Tasks for Week Two:

  • Complete a Business Continuity Plan
  • Back up critical documents and financial data (cloud or offsite)
  • Create a vendor and customer communication plan
  • Verify/update insurance coverage for disaster-type events

To complete week three, the following tasks must be completed and logged using the checklist and submit a copy of the inspection form provided below.

Key Tasks for Week Three:

  • Conduct a facility safety inspection
  • Update employee emergency contact list
  • Create an evacuation and shelter in place plan
  • Stock basic emergency supplies (flashlights, first aid kids, etc.)

To complete week four, the following tasks must be completed and logged using the checklist. You will also need to submit your sign in sheet for the drills. 

Key Tasks for Week Four:

  • Train all employees on emergency procedurs
  • Conduct a drill and invite your local emergency manager
  • Join your local chamber of commerce or VOAD
  • Share your preparedness progress on social media using #ReadyTN
