Region 1

Amanda Snowden, P.E., is the Director of TDOT in Region 1, which is located in Knoxville. It is her responsibility to direct department operations throughout the East Tennessee’s 24-county region. Major areas of operational responsibilities are highway maintenance and repair, construction engineering, safety, traffic and highway marking, bridge repair and inspection, state aid program and administration, materials and tests,  environmental planning, and office administration, including personnel matters. She is also responsible for project development management ensuring timely and fiscal delivery of transportation projects. Other major responsibilities include the Intelligent Transportation Systems and Incident Response.
