What is the Tennessee Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) Program?

ELT allows vehicle liens and titles to be managed electronically instead of using paper titles. In the current phase (Phase 1, beginning June 2026), participation is optional and limited to liens processed through approved ELT service providers.

Is participation in the ELT Program mandatory?

No. Participation is currently optional.

What are the benefits of ELT?

Faster lien releases, less paperwork, improved security, and reduced risk of lost titles.

When will the Tennessee ELT Program be available?

The program is scheduled to launch in June 2026.

Who can participate in the Tennessee ELT Program?

Participating lenders may enroll through an approved ELT service provider.

What happens if my lender does not participate in ELT?

The lender will continue using existing title and lien processes.
