International Registration Plan

The International Registration Plan (IRP) is an agreement among states of the U.S., the District of Columbia and provinces of Canada providing for payment of commercial motor carrier registration fees. To operate in multiple states or provinces, motor carriers must register in their base jurisdiction (state or province).

International Fuel Tax Agreement

The International Fuel Tax Agreement (or IFTA) is an agreement between the lower 48 states of the United States and the Canadian provinces, to simplify the reporting of fuel use by motor carriers that operate in more than one jurisdiction. 

Unified Carrier Registration/Intrastate Authority

If you operate a truck or bus in interstate or international commerce, the federal Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCR) applies to your business. The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Plan and Agreement are part of a Federally-mandated, State-administered program that went into effect September 10, 2007. The fees are based on fleet size.
