Celebration of Excellence 2016
The DCS office in Davidson County hosted the 2016 Celebration of Excellence in honor of youth who are graduating from high school this month.
The event was held at Trevecca Nazarene College and supported by community partners who did everything from donate food to goodie bags to the youth. Each youth received a free laptop computer from Churchill Mortgage and friends, family and foster parents were present to dance, clap and cheer.
The youth also received encouragement from former foster youth, Tennessee State Sen. Thelma Harper and Davidson County Juvenile Court Judge Sheila Calloway.
"You have already done more in your short lives than some of the adults here,'' Calloway said. "Each of you has shown resiliency. You have shown you can withstand and overcome circumstances."
