Volunteer & Intern Opportunities

Volunteers and Interns are needed at DCS!

The Department is looking to promote community partnerships to protect children, develop youth, strengthen families, and build safe communities.

Volunteers and Interns play a vital role at the Department of Children’s Services (DCS), serving as valuable partners in our mission to support children and families. Their contributions enhance our programs and help deliver meaningful, non-formal services that strengthen the care and support we provide.

Qualifications & Requirements

To ensure the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve, all volunteers and interns must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a TBI/FBI fingerprint background check (Paid for by DCS)
  • Pass a local law enforcement criminal records check
  • Undergo a Child Welfare System background check
  • Clear an Internet records screening
  • Complete Cultural Competency Training (Provided by DCS to prepare individuals to work respectfully with diverse populations)
