Operation Clean Sweep Ends Successfully

NASHVILLE – During the past few weeks officers from the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) completed hundreds of additional, unannounced home visits on sex offenders under community supervision.  During Operation Clean Sweep, Probation Parole Officers visited 1,028 homes across the state.  According to Alisha James, Assistant Commissioner of Community Supervision, “Everyday our officers hold nearly 80-thousand offenders accountable to the conditions of their probation and parole.  Operation Clean Sweep is one more tool in our toolbox we use to keep the community safe.  This is a reminder that our officers are on the ground 24/7 and are always vigilant in their efforts to ensure the safety of every community in Tennessee.”

Community supervision of offenders consists of in-office visits, home visits, employment checks, and collateral checks with neighbors, friends and family.  These additional, unannounced visits are another way the Tennessee Department of Correction is working to enhance public safety for Tennesseans.

During Operation Cleanup, 77 offenders were found with minor violations.  These offenders will be sanctioned and have follow-up visits with their supervising officer this week.  Similar operations will take place throughout the state in upcoming weeks.
