NASHVILLE -  A minimum security inmate is back in custody tonight after briefly walking away from his assigned work crew.  Earlier this afternoon, inmate Adam Williams #316328 left his assigned community service crew at the James K. Polk Building in Nashville, Tennessee.  Williams had been assigned to a crew that was loading items from the building into a moving truck.  He was then seen getting into a pickup truck that had been left running in the same area as the moving van.  Supervising officers immediately implemented appropriate procedures and local authorities were notified.  The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) Office of Investigation and Compliance, working in concert with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies, apprehended Williams in Cumberland County.

The inmate, Adam Williams #316328, was being housed at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution and is serving 5 years for Burglary and Theft of Property from Knox County.  He was set to expire his sentence in February 2022.

TDOC’s Office of Investigation and Compliance will continue to work with other agencies to investigate the incident and bring additional charges where appropriate.
