TDOC Partners With Federal Agencies For New Initiative
HENNING – Last year the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) announced a partnership with several agencies in the fight against contraband. On March 22nd TDOC, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will announce Honor the Oath, the next phase in contraband interdiction efforts.
Contraband is a national issue that affects prisons, jails and correctional institutions across the country. The introduction of contraband of any kind to any correctional environment poses a threat to the safety of both that institution and the general public. It is for this reason TDOC has been working closely with our criminal justice partners and other correctional agencies around the country to combat the introduction of illegal items and prosecute those who attempt to do so.
Details of the Honor the Oath campaign will be shared at a press conference on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:30pm. The press conference will be held at West Tennessee State Penitentiary and have comments from TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker, U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant, FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael Gavin, and TDOC Chief Interdiction Officer Lee Dotson. Comments will center around current interdiction efforts and recent indictments.
