NASHVILLE – Effective facility and staff supervision by Riverbend Maximum Security Institution Warden Tony Mays resulted in the arrest of a correctional officer.  Officer Randall McLendon was arrested by the Metro Nashville Police Department for sexual exploitation of a minor.

This arrest is the result of an investigation that began when Warden Mays observed Officer Randall McLendon acting suspiciously while looking at his computer.  Warden Mays utilized video technology and determined that McLendon was viewing pornographic images.  Warden Mays immediately notified the Department’s Office of Investigations and Compliance and the Metro Nashville Police Department.

“Integrity is key to any position in the Department of Correction but especially for our security staff,” says TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker. “I applaud the quick work of Warden Mays and the Office of Investigations and Compliance.  I also caution all of our staff to remember the oath they took when joining the department.  Should they forget, I will quickly remind them that any criminal activity will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

TDOC is terminating McLendon pending the outcome of this investigation.
