TDOC To Hold Joint News Conference

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction, along with other criminal justice partners including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Department of Safety, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office will hold a joint news conference on Monday, June 12 in the administration building at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution (RMSI).  TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker and others will discuss joint efforts to combat the introduction of contraband to correctional facilities.  Contraband is a problem affecting correctional agencies nationwide and directly impacts the community.  TDOC is committed to taking innovative steps and utilizing all possible avenues to intercept contraband and vigorously prosecute those attempting to introduce it.

Please note:  Those interested in attending should arrive at 1:30 p.m.  Due to TDOC policy and security protocols, no live streaming of the event will be permitted and no cell phones will be permitted inside the administration building.  A designated area in the RMSI parking lot will be provided for media entities wishing to go live for evening newscasts (4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m.).  No media members will be permitted to enter the secure compound of the facility.
