One Officer Released From Hospital, Two Others In Stable Condition

ONLY – The three officers assaulted during Sunday’s disturbance at Turney Center Industrial Complex continue to improve. Officer Lester Ball is recovering at home, while officers Jesse Shockley and Paul Nielsen remain in stable condition at a local hospital. They are in good spirits and are thankful for the outpouring of support and prayers from their colleagues and the community.

“I was able to visit with two of the officers again today; they told me they’re feeling much better and are ready to get back to work,” says Commissioner Tony Parker. “I am thankful for the progress in their recoveries and we continue to pray for these officers and their families. I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to the lawmakers and other agencies that have shown their support, but most of all I would like to thank the dedicated men and women of the Tennessee Department of Correction.”

The Department continues to work closely with other law enforcement agencies including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which we have asked to assist in the investigation.
