WARTBURG – This past weekend inmates at Morgan County Correctional Complex celebrated their graduation in a special way.  More than 40 inmates were able to reunite with their children during a special visitation cookout.

These inmates were all graduates of the Malachi Dads Program provided by FOCUS Ministries.  This program is a one year, religious program that empowers offenders to be better fathers and strengthening the bonds with their families. It is been offered at MCCX for 2 years now, with the second offering of the program graduating in a small ceremony last Friday. On Saturday, the offenders were able to spend the day with their children during a special visitation known as the Returning Hearts Celebration. The offenders and their children, some of whom came from as far away as South Carolina and Missouri to be with their fathers, enjoyed a cook-out, crafts and field-day type activities during the 6-hour event.

TDOC and MCCX are very proud to collaborate with religious organizations and non-profits like FOCUS Ministries and offer the Malachi Dads program. It is part of TDOC's non-negotiable mission to provide our offenders with evidence-based programming as part of their rehabilitation and Malachi Dads is a great example.
