KNOXVILLE – This weekend the Tennessee Department of Correction continued to advance our mission of enhancing the safety of Tennessee and its communities by launching Operation: Clean Sweep.  The operation targeted sex offenders in the east region of the state ensuring those offenders were compliant and adhering to the law.

TDOC Probation Parole Officers, along with TDOC Apprehension Enforcement Special Agents, collaborated with local law enforcement agencies, making unannounced home checks on over 300 offenders all across east Tennessee, including the Knoxville, Chattanooga and Tri-Cities areas.  A total of 7 arrests were made and over 50 violations were issued during the course of the three day operation, which launched this past Thursday, April 7 and ran through yesterday evening.

“Operation Clean Sweep is part of our agency’s mission to enhance public safety through effective community supervision,” said Commissioner Derrick Schofield.  “Offenders under TDOC supervision should take notice that we will not compromise public safety and if they are found to be non-compliant, swift action will be taken.”
