Overview: This course introduces students to the “mixed occupancy” requirements of the International Building Code. Many of the buildings reviewed for permit are of mixed occupancy including box stores, stand-alone mixed occupancies, and strip centers to name a few. Most of the presentation will be built in IBC Chapter 5 with reference to IBC Chapter 3 as well, the latter being the basis for determining occupancy classification of a particular building or use.
