Overview: This course provides students the basic tools and techniques needed to understand and inspect the installation, operation, and maintenance of nurse call systems. This presentation is made in light of the standards found in UL 1069 Standard for Hospital Signaling and Nurse Call Equipment and UL 2560 Standard for Safety for Emergency Call Systems for Assisted Living and Independent Living Facilities. Students will be challenged with locating elements of nurse call systems in plan reading and understand how these basic methods will enable them to inspect in conjunction with building plans they encounter. This course is also designed in conjunction with an in-class demonstration of a nurse call system.
