Way2Go MasterCard

New debit card for Unemployment Insurance payments
Sample Tennessee Way2Go Card

Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits can now be received by debit card or direct deposit.  Beginning July 9, 2016 all Unemployment Insurance payments issued via debit card will be deposited to a Way2Go Card® Debit MasterCard.

A Way2Go Card provides an easy, convenient and secure way to receive your Unemployment Insurance benefit payments.

It may be used anywhere MasterCard® is accepted, including for online purchases and bill payments.  Each debit card is embedded with an EMV chip for greater security and will include documentation with instructions on the use of the card.

Direct Deposit Option

This option may be selected on Jobs4TN. Entering and maintaining the correct banking information is the sole responsibility of the claimant. Department of Labor employees are not allowed access to enter a claimant’s banking information.

In the Mail

Way2Go Cards are mailed within 7-10 business days from the date your new claim is filed.  Claimants currently receiving benefits may also enroll for debit cards or direct deposit payments online at Jobs4TN.gov > Unemployment Services > Update Banking Information. In the future, all claimants will receive their unemployment benefits electronically.

Your card will arrive in a plain, white, window envelope with a return address of P.O. Box 80529, Austin, TX 78708. Do not throw away this envelope without removing its contents.  If you lose your card or did not receive your card within 7 to 10 business days, contact customer service at 855-462-5887.

Keep it Safe

As a general practice, do not give out any information about your account number, expiration date, or account balance to anyone who calls you on the telephone. Protect your Way2Go Card as you would credit cards or cash.

  1. Keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) a secret. Choose a number that is not easily guessed. Never write it down anywhere or give it to anyone. We will never call or text your asking for the PIN.
  2. Have your Card out and ready to use as you approach the ATM. If you observe suspicious persons or circumstances, it may be safer to go to an alternate ATM location.
  3. If the ATM ever appears to have been damaged or tampered with, do not insert your Card.

Activate the Card

Use the Way2Go Card® mobile app (Apple Store | Google Play), GoProgram.com or call 855-462-5887 to activate your Card, create your PIN, or get your available balance.

Start using your Card immediately anywhere MasterCard® is accepted, including online and for bill payments!

Initial Deposit

If your claim is approved, your benefits will be deposited within 48 hours of the first payable week approved by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Please remember to continue to certify for benefits weekly; failure to do so will result in benefits not being added to your card.

Keep your address up-to-date

If you need to change your address, you must update your address at Jobs4TN.

Carefully read all of the information below:

You can use your debit card anywhere that accepts MasterCard®, however, when making purchases, please remember to use it as a credit card.  View Locations
