HIGHLIGHTS

TROPICAL STORM IDA

The State Emergency Operations Center in Nashville is activated and monitoring Tropical Storm Ida as the storm makes its way to Tennessee.

Tennesseans may begin seeing some of Ida’s remnants tonight with the storm mainly impacting the state Tuesday through early Wednesday.

Heavy rain of 2” to 5” is forecast with isolated higher amounts up to 6” possible. There is also a chance with Ida for strong to severe storms, damaging winds, and insolated tornadoes, tonight through Wednesday.

Localized flash flooding will be possible across all of Middle Tennessee, with the highest threat along and east of the I-65 corridor to the Cumberland Plateau and into Knoxville and Chattanooga.

The severe weather impact in Tennessee does remain highly dependent on Ida’s track, which has shifted slightly eastward.

The American Red Cross has prepared a shelter in New Johnsonville in preparation for severe weather. The shelter is located at First United Methodist Church, 724 Woodland Drive.
