MULTI-AGENCY RESOURCE CENTER

Local, state, and federal agencies are working today to open a Multi-Agency Resource Center in Humphreys County to provide a central location for recovery support and resources for survivors.

The Humphreys County MARC will be open at 8 a.m., on Sat. Aug. 28, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 109 N. Church St., in Waverly. The center will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Central, Monday through Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

FEMA and SBA will have representatives at the Humphreys County MARC to help with registration for federal programs and assistance. Updates will be provided on the specific state and local agencies and services to be located at MARC as the center becomes operational.

FATALITIES

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 20 weather-related fatalities in Humphreys County as of this evening. This total is preliminary and pending further updates from local medical officials. No further details are available at this time.

TROPICAL STORM IDA

Tropical Storm Ida is impacting the Cayman Islands and portions of western Cuba today with heavy rains, and storm surge. Beginning Sunday, the coastal areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama will likely experience hurricane-force winds, heavy rains, and storm surge as Ida begins to make landfall. Right now, Tropical Storm Ida does not pose a threat to Tennessee; however, as Ida pushes into the Lower Mississippi Valley Sunday, the tropical storm has the potential to bring heavy rainfall and a threat for severe weather to west and middle Tennessee midweek.
