Region 1

As the TDOT Region 1 Director, Amanda R. Snowden, P.E., provides executive leadership for Department operations across 24 counties in East Tennessee, including pre-construction engineering, highway maintenance and repair, construction engineering, traffic engineering and management, field operations including bridge repair and inspection, floating maintenance, garage operations, and business office administration. With 27 years of experience in transportation engineering and executive leadership, Amanda has worked on a wide range of TDOT projects with a focus on improving safety, connectivity, and quality of life for East Tennessee communities.

Amanda began her career with TDOT as a summer intern and joined the Department full-time as a Graduate Transportation Associate in 1998. Throughout her tenure in East Tennessee, Amanda has advanced through a series of increasingly senior leadership roles, including Regional Traffic Engineer, Assistant Regional Director, Regional Director of Operations, and Interim Regional Director.  Amanda is a licensed professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
