Region 2

As the TDOT Region 2 Director, Daniel Oliver, P.E., provides executive leadership for Department operations across the 24 counties of Region 2, which covers Chattanooga, parts of Middle Tennessee, and the Upper Cumberland Plateau. His responsibilities include pre-construction engineering, highway maintenance and repair, construction engineering, traffic engineering and management, field operations including bridge repair and inspection, floating maintenance, garage operations, and business office administration. He is also responsible for guiding project delivery and ensuring effective, efficient operational performance across the region.

Daniel began his career with TDOT in 2001 as a Graduate Transportation Associate in Region 1 Construction and advanced through a variety of roles in survey and project development. He served as the Project Development Director in Region 1 from 2013 to 2018 before leaving the Department to work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as a lecturer in the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department. Daniel worked in the private industry from 2019 to 2023 before returning to the Department to serve as Region 2 Director. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor. Daniel holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
