May is Mental Health Month, and the ETCCY and Mental Health Association of East TN are partnering to present a special educational training event titled: “Changing the Way We Think About Mental Health” This presentation will include guest speakers Jan Cagle, LCSW, Senior Director of Client Services for the MHAET, and Sara O’Brien, Co-Occurring Disorders Program Coordinator at the MHAET.
This special educational event will be conducted on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 2:00 PM at Bridgewater Place (Kingston Hall), 205 Bridgewater Road, Knoxville, TN.
Attendees will gain knowledge about the prevalence of co-occurring mental health substance use disorders across East Tennessee and about Prevention and Early Intervention of co-occurring mental health substance use disorders. Attendees will be provided with treatment Resources for a Wholistic Approach to Mental Health Well-Being and will engage in an activity to discover personal areas of growth towards mental well-being and practical exercises to manage stress
This educational event has been approved for 3.0 CEU credits for ETCCY members by the NASW-TN/IN Chapter. All attendees, and non-members, will receive a Certificate of Participation with 3.0 Contact Hours as well.
Registration will begin at 9:30 AM and the program will start at 10:00 AM with a Buffet Lunch to be served from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. After lunch, the presentation will reconvene and continue until 2:00 PM.
