Interested in learning more about Tennessee's lead investigative agency?
An internship at TBI gives qualified college and post-graduate students an inside look at TBI's critical mission and work across the state. While no guarantee of future employment, an internship with TBI offers students from a wide range of backgrounds a broad look at all it takes to fulfill our unique place in the state's criminal justice system.
Timetable
Application Period: September 2nd- October 13th
Intern Letter of Reccomendation Updates:
For letters being sent in by the student applicant, please use the “Attachments” tab within the application.
For those sending a letter on behalf of the student applicant, please send the letter of recommendation to tbi.intern@tbi.tn.gov with the subject title: 'name of internship-the job id-the student's name.'
Example: If the student is applying for the TBI 2026 Summer Headquarters Rotation, the title of the email with the letter of recommendation should read:
Internship-Summer-01282026-74777-Student’s Name
Internship Orientation: January 25th
Internship Ends: April 30th
Internships are open to college juniors, seniors, or those pursuing post-graduate education. Candidates must submit a full academic transcript, two letters of reference, and, if selected, be prepared for an extensive background investigation.
