Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security's Identity Crimes Unit to Host Shredding Event
NASHVILLE --- Members of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Identity Crimes Unit will join the Columbia Police Department, Maury County Sheriff’s Department and Cintas Document Shredding of Nashville for a community shredding event on Friday, March 28, 2014. This event will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Columbia State Community College Campus at the Hickman Building Parking Lot (located on Highway 412).
“This event was organized for the citizens in Maury County to have a safe and secure location to discard personal and private documents,” Tennessee Highway Patrol Captain Stacy Williams said, who oversees the Identity Crimes Unit. “Identity theft is a growing crime in our state and around the country. Every three seconds in the United States, someone is a victim of identity theft. We appreciate the support from our participating partners to help educate the community on identity theft and to join together to combat identity crimes.”
Citizens can bring a maximum of two boxes or trash bags of personal or private documents to shred. No cardboard or non-paper items will be accepted.
All vehicles must be in line by 5:45 p.m. in order to discard their items.
